COMPANY OVERVIEW: Our client is local Industrial Contractors, which is a maintenance and construction firm serving the Gulf Coast.

POSITION TITLE: VP of Operations and Business Development

COMPENSATION: Competitive salary DOE + bonus

BENEFITS: Standard package 

LOCATION: Houston, Texas

SUMMARY:  Day-to-day operations of the business unit and will advise the President on the execution and direction of the region’s financial performance, operations and strategy. 

DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing leadership that fosters a competitive, collaborative high-performance team
  • Work closely with the executive team, participate in the short- and long-term strategic planning process
  • Establish Regional, Strategic Account Management, Product Service Line, department and functional goals and budgets and manage performance against those plans
  • Develop and ensure compliance with annual operational and capital budgets
  • Adopt broad business concepts and apply them to enhance profitability, grow the business, and set organizational policies
  • Ensure operational excellence and effective implementation of the company’s strategies
  • Maintains a sound plan of company organization, recommending actions to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession.
  • Develops and installs procedures and actions to promote communication and adequate information flow within and among regional projects and project managers
  • Continuously monitors client satisfaction and communicates any concerns to those who serve the client; In addition, provides reciprocal feedback to assure the client of the company’s commitment to fully meet their needs.
  • Focus on building the most efficient and cost-effective operating model across geographies and customer contract structures
  • Leads process and continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiencies, reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction
  • Works closely with all functional areas (Finance, HR, HSE and BD) to establish and support alignment of best practices 
  • Develops and manages relationship with current and / or targeted customers
  • Plays a key role in the business development process, identifying potential new customers, formulating competitive bids and taking part in negotiation process   


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years executive / senior operations management leadership experience
  • 10 + years’ technical experience and knowledge in the soft craft or industrial construction services, with the last 4-5 years being in a senior operations position overseeing multiple/large projects with significant impact on overall business results
  • Ideal candidates will have worked their way up from the field and have a blended background which includes knowledge of operations, estimating, financial controls and business development
  • Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning skills
  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
  • Strong safety focus
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop and retain a talented employee population
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
