POSITION:   Thermal Design Engineer 

COMPENSATION: Competitive Salary + DOE

LOCATION: Houston, Texas

SUMMARY:  A Heat Exchanger Design Process Engineer with a thermal rating focus designs and optimizes heat exchangers, ensuring they meet process requirements and thermal performance targets, while also considering factors like material selection, cost, and safety

DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform thermal design of heat exchangers, including selecting appropriate types, materials and configurations
• Utilize software like HTRI for heat exchanger design and simulation
• Optimize heat exchanger design for efficiency, cost, and manufacturability
• Perform thermal calculations to determine heat transfer rates, temperature profiles and pressure drops
• Ensure that the heat exchanger meets the required thermal performance specifications
• Prepare thermal rating reports and data sheets
• Perform thermal calculations to determine heat transfer rates, temperature profiles and pressure drops
• Ensure that the heat exchanger meets the required thermal performance specifications
• Prepare thermal rating reports and data sheets
• Troubleshoot heat exchanger performance issues and identify root causes
• Develop and implement solutions to improve heat exchanger performance and reliability
• Identify opportunities to improve heat exchanger design and performance
• Stay up to date with the latest technologies and industry best practices

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
• Experience in heat exchanger design and thermal engineering (Min. 5 years preferred)
• Proficiency in heat exchange software (e.g., HTRI)
• Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
