POSITION TITLE: Project Controls Manager

COMPENSATION: Competitive – DOE

LOCATION: Beaumont, TX 

SUMMARY:  Responsible for communicating with project managers and project controls specialists to ensure projects are on track and meet budget, cost management and reports, scheduling, risk management, accounting, compliance regulation, communication with external stakeholders and preparing project status reports. Reports KPIs to executive team.

DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzes and effectively communicates financial status of projects to upper-level management
  • Earns trust, credibility, and buy in of processes from operations team to create better cohesion and clear communication within the organization
  • Understands financial reporting – including the upstream effects of reporting to other areas of the organization
  • Manages the division of responsibilities and communication between various project & home office departments
  • Drives continuous improvement throughout the organization and is a proponent for positive change
  • Effectively utilizes the right data, reports and tools for risk analysis and benchmarking
  • Reviews all project and estimate cash flows, contract terms and change orders in detail for financial risks and opportunities
  • Creates an inviting workplace that motivates and challenges each team member to achieve career goals and strive for opportunities
  • Understands the needs of the organization, aims to bring in high quality talent and continually develops team members through critical conversations and performance reviews
  • Prepare project schedules in Primavera P6
  • Reconcile, [using Earned Value and production measurement techniques], periodic invoices, monthly cost reporting, cost and production trends, forecast at completion analysis, cost variance analysis, funding budgets and cash flows
  • Interface with the Estimating department to ensure that task data is incorporated into the integrated project schedules and tracking sheets
  • Lead development of project specific project controls execution strategies
  • Manage and support team of project controls specialists
  • Lead the development, improvement, and implementation of corporate project controls systems


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in project accounting or financial planning & analysis
  • Experience with Primavera P6
  • Detail oriented, with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and work in a team environment
  • Experience working in a corporate setting preferred
  • Strong computer skills including good knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite and experience with a major ERP system
  • Advanced Excel skills required
