MDS Integration Specialist / Open to RN – Remote

We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Registered Nurse for the MDS Integration Specialist opportunity with BRR. Responsibilities will include facilitating and developing the
relationship/coordination between the facility and rehab. This includes aspects of the clinical
practice focusing on: optimization of collaboration for therapy services with facility MDS
personnel, appropriate functional outcomes, identification of training needs, and implementation
of MDS related programs. Objectives will be achieved within the value system of Broad River
Rehab and with the ultimate objective of creating value for our patients, our customers and our
employees.
Broad River Rehab is a NC based growing therapy company (providing services in multiple states) which partners with providers across all settings including assisted/ independent and skilled nursing facilities to provide premier physical, occupational and speech therapy services.
Job Responsibilities Include:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient/Caseload Management
o Participate as effective team member and maximize team effort for facility and
patient care excellence.
o Follow established protected health information (PHI) policies to prevent privacy
or security breaches. If breach identified, report to Broad River Rehab
Management.
o Provide / oversee appropriate MDS nursing process collaboration per all pertinent
federal and state regulations.
o Oversee provision of ADL coding training for therapy and facility staff per
established facility schedule and as needed.
o Assist facility in implementing and utilizing Restorative Nursing services, this can
include staff training annually and as need is identified by facility
o Assist facility in implementing and utilizing Nursing Respiratory services, this
can include hands on staff training annually and as need is identified by facility.
o Assist facility collaboration between MDS personnel and Rehab Director for
Medicaid Case Management and PDPM optimization
o May be called upon for short durations of time to complete job responsibilities of
BRR contracted MDS nurse in facility
Customer Relations/Business Development
o Maintain and manage relationship with facility staff to ensure effective customer
relations.
o Enhance facility profitability through understanding and education of
reimbursement issues.
o Ensure alignment with facility objectives, timely response to facility issues and
resolution of problems.
Staff Management and Development
o Assist with new staff orientation and training to ensure understanding of MDS
coding principles.
o If appropriate, provide direct supervision to ADL/Restorative Mentor
COMPETENCIES/REQUIREMENTS:
o Excellent geriatric clinical knowledge base.
o Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
o Able to coach, counsel and serve as a mentor.
o Good customer and employee problem resolution skills.
o Ability to maximize contribution as a team.
o Knowledge of Medicare billing procedures and documentation compliance.
o Ability to travel to multi-sites in assigned territory, availability of automobile during
working hours with a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance (where appropriate)
o Bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, transferring, lifting 50 or more pounds,
and assisting adults/children weighing 200 pounds or more with possible use of
mechanical devices where applicable.
CREDENTIALS:
o Active LPN/RN license to practice in state(s) employed.
o 1-3 years management experience.
