POSITION TITLE: Estimator
COMPENSATION: Competitive Salary + DOE

LOCATION: Baton Rouge, LA
SUMMARY: The role of the Estimator is to work among Business Development, Project Management and Construction teams to prepare estimates, schedules, technical execution plans, proposals, and other client required materials to complete a project based on the provided plans, drawings and other specifications
DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Business Development Team, as needed, in preparation of proposals for new business and presentations to clients
- Study and understand the contract documents of each project before, as well as after estimating to determine areas, including provisions of the general or special conditions, plans, schedule, and specifications
- Perform value engineering and value enhancement efforts as required to serve the client including development of items and lists, compilation of ideas and presentation of information to the client
- Perform accurate estimating of projects assigned to bid
- Attend pre-bid meetings and post bid meetings as required
- Company liaison with Owner, Architect, and Engineer during estimating and bidding phases
- Coordinates with Project Manager to assure that a preliminary construction schedule and budget have been developed based upon each estimate
- Assist during the preconstruction strategy meeting as it pertains to project budgeting
- Work with Project Manager to estimate and submit timely change proposals to the design agent or owner
- Maintain an up-to-date file or library of material suppliers, current labor laws, equipment rental rates, and qualified subcontractors by category
- Analyzing subcontractor and vendor quotes to confirm scope pricing
- Preparing conceptual estimates and budgets for projects to include analysis points for internal discussion
- Updating unit, labor, material, and equipment rates in cost databases for software such as HCSS
- Developing subcontractor relationships for the solicitation of bids.
- Complete additional job tasks assigned by manager
- Travel to project sites when necessary
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years’ minimum experience in Construction Industry
- Estimating software experience with HCSS Heavy Bid is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or relevant field of expertise
- Thorough knowledge of construction forecasting, cost, scheduling and estimating
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule
- Knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Proficient Technical writing skills
