Community Design Data Analyst

Atlanta GA 30341

In the United States, one of best practices people of any age can do is to weave physical activity into their daily  lives. Physical Activity is essential for aging healthy.  It reduces the onset of chronic diseases which may prevent an early death.

Communities supporting physical activity are those that contain parks, schools and stores that are accessible to their community. These communities are safe, and have easily accessible places to walk, roll, play and bicycle. The design of these communities encourage personal connection by providing friendly routes for activities and destinations.

Purpose:

The purpose of this work is to provide CDC’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity and

Obesity(DNPAO), Physical Activity and Health Branch (PAHB) subject matter expertise in

physical activity analyses using modern data analytical methods and unique datasets to

document the impact of DNPAO physical activity investments.

Duties/Responsibilities:

The community design data analyst proficient in SAS, SUDAN, Stata, or R is needed to:

  1. Develop a project plan for priority project(s), including an analytic plan.
  2. Draft products based on results, including data tables, manuscripts, and abstracts. (Scientific and general population products)
  3. Support Branch- and Division-level activities associated with the project
  4. Identify and analyze public health issues such as physical activity, physical inactivity, and active transportation, and their impact on health outcomes that are critical to population health.
  5. Schedule and lead project-based or partner meetings as needed

Specific Analytic Tasks: The anticipated activities above will be applied to one or both of following analytic projects depending on scope:

  • Use the PADAC model to conduct a follow-up analysis on the five-year health benefits, averted costs, and Quality-Adjusted Life Years (QALYs) gained of CD4PA based on DNPAO’s programmatic investments

Deliverables:

  1. A draft of one peer-reviewed manuscript based on activities above
