COMPANY OVERVIEW: The client is the exclusive South/Central Louisiana Distributor for the pioneer & worldwide leader of industrial coatings and engineering composites that provide repair solutions for all industries on issues such as erosion, corrosion, chemical attack, and daily maintenance problems.

POSITION TITLE:  Applications Estimator

COMPENSATION: Competitive salary + bonus + DOE

LOCATION:  Baton Rouge, LA

SUMMARY:  Perform coat analysis, post-closing review of application projects versus planned cost estimates. Work in conjunction with field project managers to provided them with simple metrics to understand their customer service, quality assurance and project success.


  • The executive leader reviews plans, assessment of application needs, and preparation of cost estimates as assigned for turnkey projects.
  • Job walks as needed to review potential application solutions for pricing.
  • Work with the sales team members on how to prepare application inquiries correctly so cost estimates can be processed/priced correctly.
  • Informs sales manager if sales consultants’ project request form or the need for additional cost estimating information is becoming a problem that is detrimental to the success of the project or the company.
  • Help field operations begin more difficult installations by meeting with crew leaders prior to their travel to the field if requested by the team.
  • Writes product specifications for projects.
  • Assisting local engineers/contractors on providing product and installation specifications for upcoming projects
  • Works with sales & marketing manager to determine which sales consultants need help with technical presentations in the field serving in the capacity of a “Sales Engineer” in this setting.
  • Working with sales manager on technical areas of the tools that sales consultants should be using to enhance their education that provides a deeper driven value proposition solution selling methodology to the target market.
  • Assist with the education of sales team members to learn the broad spectrum of all products across all the industries that targets.
  • Provide technical support as needed.
  • Help prepare power point presentations for “lunch and learns” and be present at these meetings to assist sales team members
  • Helps prepare with the sales & marketing manager LinkedIn tools for shared use with prospects/customers.
  • Catalogues technical information in proper order on internal use tools
  • Makes recommendations to ensure that sales consultants are selling correct products on applications. Works with sales manager to enlist their support on developing these “technical product sales skills.”
  • Handling phone calls if technical inquires as needed
  • Work in conjunction with sales team and field operations management.
  • Reports immediately to the management team on any application projects that present relationship conflicts that could cause a loss of key accounts or negative profitability to the company.
  • Writes scope of work recommendations for projects.


  • 10 years of experience of Estimating, Operations, Technical Expertise.
  • 4-year degree preferred
  • In-depth understanding of target industries and products that matches best practices for profitable solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Fluent use of computer/CRM/software tools
  • High degree of professionalism and priority focused efforts, ability, to work well in collaborative environment.
  • Good math skills and problem-solving aptitude
