We are looking for Open Streets Liaison to support the Prospect Heights neighborhood''s Open Streets programming on 5 blocks along Vanderbilt Avenue, in Brooklyn. These positions will run every weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) from early April 2021 to November 2021.

About the Position

This position will focus on supporting the set-up, operations, and breakdown of one of NYC''s most vibrant public space activations during the pandemic. The Open Streets Liaison will provide support on the street in order to safely and effectively operate the Open Streets program along Vanderbilt Avenue in 2021. Open Streets Liaison will be the eyes and ears of the street, ensuring the environment feels welcoming and safe for visitors to the commercial corridor. Open Streets Liaison will support the closing and opening of streets to traffic at the start and end of every Open Streets scheduled day by blocking traffic with barriers and cones. Throughout their shift, Open Streets Liaisons will ensure that the streets are clean, address any issues as they arise, and monitor conditions so that visitors can safely enjoy Vanderbilt Avenue.

Planned Shifts are the following:

• Friday Shift - Starts at 4pm and ends at 11 pm
• Saturday AM Shift - Starts at 11 am and ends at 5:30 pm
• Saturday PM shift - Starts at 5 pm and ends at 11 pm
• Sunday AM Shift - Starts at 11 am and ends at 5:30 pm
• Sunday PM shift - Starts at 5 pm and ends at 11 pm

Each shift will have 2 staff members, and coordinate with volunteers of PHNDC as well as local restaurants participating in Open Streets.

Team Requirements:

• This position will require a short training period (2 - 4 hours) both virtually/in-person
• Able to interact in a responsible, respectful, and mature manner with a wide range of people - residents,
• business owners, agency staff
• Wear masks as required by New York State and New York City orders
• Comfortable working in-person in crowds
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable working on their feet standing for multiple hours
• Be available explicitly Friday nights and weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday)
• Be open to “on-call” shifts when needed
• Provide support around ensuring the cleanliness of the streets, including changing corner basket
• garbage bags
• Ability to complete basic forms including reports, timesheets, and memos
• Follow event requirements as prescribed by NYC agencies and organizing partners
