POSITION TITLE: Corporate Accounting Manager

COMPENSATION: Competitive salary DOE

SUMMARY: The Corporate Accounting Manager manages the accounting operations of the company to ensure best practices are applied in processes, systems, controls and timeliness of financial reporting.  This includes producing periodic financial reports, maintaining adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhancing the accuracy of the company''s reported financial results, and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.  This position is the key role in the company to understand all facets of company business transactions and their related impact on the general ledger and financial statements of the company.  This position will also identify and communicate significant process or business transaction issues to management to allow the implementation of changes to improve company performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements
  • Drive the month-end accounting closing process including reconciliation of all general ledger accounts on the agreed timetable
  • Own the general ledger from creating GL accounts and other related master data, to understanding of all GL accounts and their underlying transactions and ensuring all accounts are reconciled and corrected as necessary in a timely manner by the accounting team.
  • Review monthly financial statements including conducting trend and variance analyses to ensure accuracy of reporting.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements for all subsidiaries including subsidiaries & acquired companies that may be on differing ERP systems until they can be integrated.
  • Assist in the management of the external audit process.
  • Collaborate with VP of Finance to create and maintain an updated accounting policy manual.
  • Manage the month end close process to ensure that the books are closed on a timely and accurate basis
  • Develop financial practices and procedures in accordance with best practice corporate and government requirements.
  • Manage the company''s accounting process and the resolution of accounting problems to ensure proper financial reporting.
  • Interpret financial statements and reports.
  • Identify potential unrecorded liabilities and identify issues to management that could lead to future liabilities/commitments.
  • Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting spot process/system audits.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Coordinate accounting/integration activities for acquisitions.
  • Partner with departments and branch locations to help them understand their monthly financial results and assist them in developing their future forecasts and plans.
  • Participate in periodic forecasting and financial planning
  • Develop system & process controls to ensure data integrity.
  • Oversee the accounts payable and payment process and related team
  • Oversee the credit, receivables and collections process and related team
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, tax, bank covenants and GAAP requirements
  • Prepares various monthly management reports
  • Prepare work papers that are organized, neat, cross-referenced and supported by conclusions
  • Prepares a variety of detailed accounting and statistical functions relating to various tax preparations and audits
  • Assists with acquisition and system integrations
  • Works with Operations Managers to support organization profitability and objectives
  • Performs other tasks as directed by the V.P. of Finance

Required Skills:  

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-state, Multi-country financial oversight experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience identifying process improvements and efficiencies for Accounting and Operations departments
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, integrated enterprise accounting and management systems
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Experience using Sage X3 ERP system, preferred
  • Experience using Tableau
  • An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
  • An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills.
  • A change agent who takes initiative and accountability.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor''s degree in Accounting or degree in Business with major in Accounting
  • CPA Preferred
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience and a thorough grasp of GAAP
  • Hands on accounting experience in a plant, operations, manufacturing, distribution or other inventory-related environment preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • May need to sit or stand as needed.
  • May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday.
  • Proper lifting techniques required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the operations areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.

For the most part ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment are present as found in a typical office environment.
