SUMMARY: The role is responsible for overseeing and managing millwright operations within an industrial or construction setting. This position requires a strong blend of technical expertise in industrial machinery and mechanical systems, coupled with proven leadership and management skills
DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and supervise millwright crews: Manage a team of millwrights, assigning tasks, scheduling work, ensuring productivity and fostering a positive work environment
- Project coordination and execution: Oversee the planning, scheduling, installation, maintenance, and repair projects related to industrial machinery, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time and within budget
- Technical guidance and expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to the team, troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, and ensure adherence to engineering specifications and quality standards
- Safety compliance and enforcement: Implement and enforce safety regulations, conduct inspections, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools
- Collaboration and communication: Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, operations, and project management, to coordinate work, minimize downtime and ensure efficient resource allocation
- Documentation and reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, maintenance activities and equipment conditions for reporting and analysis
- Training and mentorship: Train and mentor new or junior millwrights and apprentices in best practices, safety protocols and technical skills.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of experience as a millwright, with several years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Technical expertise: In-depth knowledge of millwright installation, repair, and maintenance processes, including precision alignment techniques (e.g., laser alignment), rigging, welding, and fabrication.
- Mechanical aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components.
- Blueprint and schematic interpretation: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Safety knowledge: Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices in industrial settings, including OSHA and company safety standards.
