Engineering Manager
COMPANY OVERVIEW: Our client is the leading provider of replacement joint systems; penetration seal systems and HRSG duct/liner replacement systems sold to power plants.
POSITION TITLE: Engineering Manager

LOCATION: Houston, Texas
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Our engineering group is vital in our field service’s success; the manager will also help navigate solving any engineering issue that may arise through a project as it’s being installed in the field.
DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Streamline, accelerate completion, and improve the quality of the creation of general arrangement drawings that are part of design submittals to our clients, fabricators and manufacturing shop
- Ensure drawings and 3D models are modeled according to our best practices, are properly reviewed, and previous mistakes are not creeping back into designs.
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineers in problem-solving skills, decision-making process, and overall efficiency.
- Build and lead the engineering department as a cohesive, high-performing team.
- Build trust relationships with peer managers and ensure that all engineers on the team work well together with other departments in the company such as procurement, shipping/receiving, manufacturing, and the installation team.
- Work with the engineering coordinator to assign tasks to engineers
- Gauge progress of various projects, adjust as needed
- Communicate effectively with other departments
- Collaborate with the sales team
- Train new employees
- Work on individual projects with the team
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, or a combination of engineering and manufacturing.
- Minimum 5+ years in an engineering managerial role
- Incredible problem-solving abilities
- Ability to collaborate with many other departments
- Interpersonal skills to manage a team of engineers
- Ability to give constructive criticism
- Ability to make decisions quickly
- 5 or more years proficiency with SolidWorks
