Technical Service Manager

SUMMARY: The Technical Services Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing the technical service operations within an industrial services company focused on engineering solutions for refractory and acid-proof linings. This role ensures the delivery of high- quality technical support, innovation, and service execution across all engineering-related projects and client engagements. The manager serves as a key link between field operations, engineering teams, and client stakeholders to drive efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement.
DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate technical services for a wide variety of industrial applications involving refractory and/or acid brick linings including high quality engineering designs, calculations, drawings, specifications and other services to ensure the successful performance of the equipment while also meeting project specifications and client expectations.
- Serve as a technical point of escalation for complex issues.
- Develop and enforce technical procedures, quality standards, and operational best practices in alignment with industry regulations and company policies.
- Familiarity with applicable codes (e.g., ASME, API, ASTM) and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with clients to understand technical requirements, provide expert recommendations, and address concerns. Assist in developing scopes of work and technical proposals as needed.
- Perform inspections and failure analysis of existing linings and recommend lining improvements to extend service life and equipment reliability.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost savings, and technical innovation in service delivery.
- Drive initiatives to enhance equipment performance, material usage, and workforce productivity.
- Regularly meet with vendors and industry experts to understand latest material technology for various refractory applications.
- Work closely with project management, procurement, safety, and QA/QC teams to ensure seamless project execution. Support pre-job planning, technical reviews, and post-project evaluations.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering (Master’s preferred) 7+ years of experience in technical or engineering services within an industrial setting Professional Engineering Certification or ability to acquire upon employment
- Proven leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary technical teams
- Familiarity with engineering software, standards, and field practices
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities within technical teams
