POSITION TITLE: Transportation Manager COMPENSATION: Competitive salary DOE BENEFITS: Standard package LOCATION: Baytown, TX SUMMARY: Responsible for managing all drivers and driver trainers under the transportation division, including Baytown and Victoria locations. DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for culture for drivers, making sure driver promotions are handled timely, payment of safety bonuses, enrollment in benefit plans, recognition in newsletter, anniversaries, etc. • Reviews driver candidate applications, performs interviews and road tests, coordinates training of new hires with Safety Dept. • Reviews and approves weekly payroll and time off requests • Responsible for paycheck questions, reprimands, performance reviews, etc. • Responsible for ensuring the drivers are operating at optimal efficiency level • Reviewing of owner operator contracts • Responsible for coordinating with the shop to ensure that Drivers'' trucks are being repaired and maintained in timely manner • Handles all EFS and Per diem, etc. • Schedules safety council training • Tracks drivers TWIC and Driver''s license expirations. • Responsible for company reporting requirements • Work on additional key projects as assigned. Required Skills:   EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor''s Degree preferred; or equivalent experience • 5 years'' experience in industrial transportation preferred • Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills • Ability to execute project plans for growth and operational improvements • Supervisory experience with knowledge of employment practices • Proficiency with computers • Working knowledge of trucks and other yard equipment • Dispatching experience a plus • Knowledge of DOT/OSHA compliance • Ability to be on-call 24 hours per day . ***PLEASE NOTE: We try to respond to everyone who applies for our jobs, but in periods of high activity it may not be possible.
