Job Description:  

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Operations Supervisor to join our Distribution Center, located in Bensenville, IL. This position is responsible for coordinating and managing multiple warehouse functions including receiving, warehousing, and shipping.  Supervise the activities and work performance of Distribution Center staff, which may include other supervisory personnel, ensuring all resources assigned to them, are being utilized efficiently and effectively to meet company, department and functional area goals, objectives, and priorities. Work closely with Operation Manager to develop existing staff. This position will be responsible to oversee all resources required to accomplish the goals established for their respective functional area. This will include the proper utilization of capital equipment, security of inventory and direct responsibility for personnel in their areas. This position will be responsible to establish annual goals for their respective area as well as themselves and insure their resources are properly utilized to accomplish these goals. This position will work closely with Corporate''s Accounting , Purchasing, Marketing and Customer Service Departments to ensure coordination of DC activities, and adherence to DC procedures.     Shift 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Please list the primary duties of the position and the estimated % of time to be spent on these duties using increments of 10% or greater.)

          60% Staff Supervision

  • Training, directing, monitoring and evaluating hourly and temporary employees. Ensuring that departmental practices and company policies are being followed. Administering progressive disciplinary action when needed and providing annual performance reviews for their staff. 

  • Making sure that all capital equipment and machines are properly operated and maintained.

  • Responsible for ensuring proper maintenance is provided for all equipment and company property.


    40% Operations Supervision

  • Establishing annual goals for their assigned functional area and insure that these goals are met

  • Establish daily and weekly objectives and insure those objectives are met.

  • Ensure their functional area operates within established budgeted guidelines 

  • Prepare weekly / monthly / annual reports for management on operating performance, resource utilization and accomplishments against goals.

  • Insure projects assigned to their area of responsibility are accomplished in an efficient and cost effective way

Required Skills:  

              Required Qualifications Education, Licensing, Certification, and Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Distribution Management, Systems or Logistics or some college education with appropriate mix of skills/experience.

    • 5-7 yrs progressive experience to include/management experience in a high volume automated distribution center or fast paced automated operations orientated environment.
    • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Proven management/supervisory experience.

    • Good written and verbal communication skills

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook

    • Knowledge of Legacy mainframe computing systems.

    • Knowledge of distributed computing platforms as used in operations orientated environments.

    • RF Scanner experience preferred

    • Knowledge of high speed sorting equipment, powered material handling equipment, storage systems.

    • Understanding of labor and resource scheduling and line operations.

    • Working knowledge of transportation, logistics, finance, marketing, customer service and electronic manifesting and controls systems.

    • Safety

    • Bi-lingual - English/Spanish speaking skills a plus
