Job Description:  

The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on manufacturing processes and continual improvements to support Global Surgical''s Operations division. Engineer will work closely with Operations Management to identify continual improvement projects, perform feasibility studies for implementation of proposals and product development releases, and support Operations by ensuring available instructions and work environments are current and effective.

Essential Job Functions

  • Cost reduction projects for product families
  • Manufacturing process improvements for existing products
  • Improve production efficiencies
  • Ensure manufacturing instructions are up to date and easy to follow
  • Manage product life cycle, with focus on transitions at product end of life
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis on new designs for material/cost optimization
  • Develop all fixtures and work instructions for newly designed products
  • Develop all labor estimates for new designs and manage costed BOMs



Required Skills:  

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor''s Degree in Engineering strongly preferred, equivalent work experience can be substituted
  • 2+ years'' experience in manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD software such as Solidworks
  • Demonstrated understanding of common Manufacturing Methods (machining, casting, sheet metal fabrication, etc.)
  • Occasional travel is required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport to facilitate teamwork and achieve success with department managers, shop personnel, doctors and vendors
  • Excellent root cause analysis, especially pertaining to mechanical devices
  • Perform effectively in environments with frequent workload changes and competing demands
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong planning, organizing, documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Basic electrical knowledge is a plus
