SUMMARY:
This position provides significant input to President in all matters relating to the successful operation of the region. Directs the activities of the region''s operating functions in support of policies, goals, and business objectives established by the Company and at the direction of the President.
DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
•
Guides and directs senior level regional operations management in the development, production, promotion, and financial aspects of the organization''s products and services.
•
Oversees/directs the region''s operation management with responsibility for multiple customers/accounts within the region, including P&L responsibility as well as business development responsibility
•
Acts as both a formal and informal resource to the President and other senior managers, providing input on strategic direction and initiatives as well as tactical issues.
•
Implements and oversees the successful implementation of short and longer range plans and programs that meet operations goals and objectives (e.g. growth objectives).
•
Plays a key role in business development initiatives, including creating and maintaining relationships with key decision makers within current and/or targeted customers.
•
Provides guidance and recommendations to the President regarding the business unit''s operating structure and actions/processes necessary to effectively manage the organization''s current and projected activities.
•
Maintains a sound plan of business unit organization, recommending actions to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession.
•
Develops and installs procedures and actions to promote communication and adequate information flow within and among regional projects and project managers, including those outside of this position''s immediate span of control (i.e. where servicing the same customer).
•
Evaluates the results of overall and/or specific operations regularly and systematically and reports these results to the President and/or designate on an ongoing, regular basis.
•
Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined, understood and executed.
•
Ensures that all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with Company policy and controls and local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.
Required Skills:
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
•
10+ years of increasing management responsibility in a mid-large craft/industrial services organization, with the last 4-5 years being in a senior operations position (e.g. General Manager, VP Operations, Area Manager) overseeing multiple/large projects with significant impact on overall business results.
•
P&L responsibility of at least $150 million, during the last 4-5 years.
•
Proven track record of growing a P&L over an extended period of time (2-3 years minimum).
•
Proven history of leading business unit(s) with strong safety performance (e.g. low lost time/incident rates).
•
Technical experience and extensive knowledge in a given technical and/or craft area a strong plus, i.e. scaffolding, industrial painting/coating, insulation, process management, etc.
•
Candidate must possess excellent communication skills combined with strong business acumen to engage customers and to communicate complex ideas clearly, simply and convincingly.
•
Strong process orientation and organizational skills a must.
•
Record of developing and implementing pro-active solutions to meet customer''s needs benefiting the company (employer) and the customer.
•
Record of adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards. Must maintain a high degree of integrity.
•
Record of recruiting, motivating, managing and developing a capable operations/project management team, including development of future succession candidate(s).
•
Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively meet deadlines, while adhering to the highest level of Safety performance/standards.
•
Must have a working/operational knowledge of key financial and operational drivers for success.
•
College degree preferred but not required.
