Perform a variety of accounting duties, such as preparing recapitulations and analyses of prescribed accounting records, classifying and coding accounting data, reviewing accounts payable and purchase orders, reconciling ledger accounts and preparing accounting reports and statements. Work with minimal supervision conferring with supervisor on unusual matters. May be assisted by Entry or Intermediate Level personnel. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity. Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of accounting to the completion of difficult assignments. May lead and direct the work of others . Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
-Financial Reporting for a business unit- reconciliation of inventory, sales returns & bad debt projection analyses, selling expense reconciliation, and actual to plan variances analyses/write-up for one business (all monthly work). In addition to recording any necessary G/L transactions, the individual prepares the financial statement and any necessary analysis. The total reporting package includes Controller''s Report including any appropriate comments on the operational results and the analysis performed. Financial Reporting responsibility also includes addressing any management questions/concerns on operational results. Significant issues addressed should be reviewed with a supervisor before being issued. The business unit assigned is appropriate for the grade level as determined by complexity and risk of error/issue for the business unit.
-Prepare inventory roll and record appropriate financial transactions relating to cost of goods for a business unit (business unit assigned is appropriate to grade level based upon complexity and risk).
-Supervise/Train Staff/Assistant Accountants. This involves day to day interaction, addressing routine questions and reviewing work subordinates. Seniors should be viewed as an information resource for the entire company as well as internal to the accounting group.
-Special or process improvement projects/analysis to support the ongoing business needs.
Required Qualifications
Education, Licensing, Certification, and Experience
BS in Accounting or equivalent
A minimum of 5-8 years of related experience.
