The Bradford Group, a world leader in direct to consumer marketing and provider of gifts, collectibles, home d√©cor, and jewelry, is currently seeking a highly motivated and driven distribution leader to join our company as the Director of Distribution & Global Logistics. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Client Services & Fulfillment, this high impact position will direct all aspects of distribution operation including logistics, inventory, shipping and receiving, safety, and maintenance of the facility, financial operations, staff development, training, and scheduling.  This position requires an individual who is experienced with and comfortable implementing state-of-the-art distribution systems, such as WMS, WCS, etc.  This will be an exciting opportunity to lead a large scale change for our DC.

Our dynamic and complex environment requires an individual with not only passion and expertise in the area of distribution and logistics, but a skilled leader and mentor of people.  This position requires an individual who is experienced with and comfortable implementing a new state-of-the-art distribution system.  This will be an exciting opportunity at a large scale for our DC.

We are looking for an individual with a strong desire to create and drive new operational initiatives. Our selected candidate must have the skills and ability to:

  • Ensure timely deliveries to maximize sales. 
  • Establish operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials and keeping warehouse inventory current and accurate, and safety.
  • Confer with Sr. Management to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with other departments such as production, sales, inventory control, and purchasing.
  • Ensure management of the activities and work performance of Distribution Center Managers and supervisors ensuring all resources are being utilized efficiently and effectively to meet Company and department goals, objectives, and priorities.
  • Oversee the company''s global logistics assuring regulatory compliance and the classifications as put forth by US Customs regulations for the transportation of finished goods, vendor selection and negotiation of contracts for rates and services.

Responsibilities include:

  • 70% Operations Management
    • Assist in establishing annual goals and overseeing that these goals are met.
    • Establish daily and weekly objectives.
    • Ensure that the facility operates within established budget guidelines.
    • Prepares reports executive on operating performance and shift activity as required.
    • Conduct projects as directed.

  • 20% Strategic Planning

  • 15% Staff Management
  • Training, directing, monitoring and evaluating employees.
  • Ensuring that departmental practices and company policies are being followed. Taking disciplinary action when needed.
  • Making sure that all equipment and machines are properly operated and maintained.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper maintenance is provided for all equipment.


Required Skills:  

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor''s degree in Business, Logistics, Distribution Management; or  High School diploma with equivalent experience and some college education
  • 10 years of experience in all phases of running a high volume distribution center to include 5-7 years of experience in a supervisory/management role
  • Proven leadership skills in developing, training, motivating and retaining employees
  • Experience with purchasing, expediting, quality/continuous improvement initiatives, and manufacturing/warehouse safety practices
  • Good problem solving/analysis skills
  • High level of business acumen and strategic thinking, particularly around increasing productivity and efficiency
  • Good project management skills
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles
  • Knowledge transportation/logistics and related matters including of HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule)
  • Good carrier contracts negotiation experience
  • Strong process and technical knowledge
  • Excellent written and positive verbal communication skills both with direct reports as well as other departments within the company and vendor partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Knowledge of in-house mainframe computer operations
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations and equipment
  • Knowledge of high speed sorting equipment, powered material handling equipment, storage system.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing scheduling and line operations
  • Knowledge of transportation/logistics and related matters

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in finance, marketing, or computer systems a plus
  • Custom Brokers License
  • Knowledge of shrink film packaging machines
  • Bi-lingual - English/Spanish speaking skills
